A Guide to the Most Popular Men’s Cosmetic Procedures

Ever looked in the mirror and desperately wanted ears that didn’t stick out so much? Or spotted a bald patch you wished wasn’t there? While we’re not ones to endorse whining or, worse, beating yourself up over appearance, we do applaud a proactive approach.

Men may only account for approximately 10 percent of cosmetic procedures carried out in the United Kingdom today, however, more men than ever before are at least open to the idea of having a little touch up.

There are myriad game-changing procedures now available to men, including hair transplants, chemical peels and laser hair removal.

“Men want to look good for their age nowadays, especially as there seems to be more competition in the workplace,” says Bernadette Harte from The Harley Medical Group.

Anti-Wrinkle Injections

Nowadays, it is no longer an option for many men to look scruffy. Looking and feeling fresh (not frozen)! Can give you an edge in the boardroom, your love life or even just help you feel confident and energised. But the last thing that men want is to look cosmetically enhanced — which is why our conservative approach leaves you looking rested and relaxed while still allowing you to express yourself.

The qualified team at Man Cave Sydney Cosmetic Clinic work with each patient and are skilled in a variety of injectable products and non-invasive treatments to achieve the results you want. From small amounts of dermal filler or anti-wrinkle injections, right through to non-invasive scrubs, peels and facials, our medically trained staff know exactly what works best for men’s skin.

Laser Hair Removal

For removing unwanted hair, such as on the upper lip, chest or back, laser hair removal offers a quick and effective solution. Laser hair removal works by delivering pulses of intense light which produces damage to the underlying hair follicle.

Generally, this procedure needs to be performed multiple times, usually 3 to 6 times, to be fully effective. It is performed in a clinic by a nurse or physician and takes about 30-60 minutes per treatment. Although there are usually limited side effects, in rare cases, scarring and skin discolouration have occurred.

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion is a non-invasive skin treatment that improves skin texture and tone by removing the top layer of dead skin cells. After removing this layer, the skin appears both refreshed and rejuvenated. This treatment is usually performed by a nurse or an aesthetician (skin care specialist).

This procedure takes approximately 30 minutes to perform, has no down-time and is pain-free with very limited risks. Patients that undergo this procedure may return to normal activity right away.

Chemical Peels

Like microdermabrasion, chemical peels are a non-invasive cosmetic facial procedure which exfoliates or removes the top layer of skin cells, to improve skin tone and texture.  Some medical-grade chemical peels even treat facial pigmentation and skin diseases such as acne or rosacea.  Chemical peels are performed by a nurse or skin care specialist.

A chemical peel takes around 30 minutes, and there is no associated downtime with this procedure. Minor skin irritation and redness are the most common side effects but typically last less than 24 hours.
