Most people consume alcohol with friends as a social event; however, this drug can easily become something that is a dependent for some. The brain, heart, liver, kidney and other parts of your body are affected by overconsumption. Overconsumption can have serious long-term effects if this negative habit continues to lead your life.

In addition to negatively affecting various parts of your body, alcohol can also be the reason you’re unable to lose the weight before beach season. Most forms of alcohol, particularly beer, contains high carbohydrates and calories which results in stored fat. Other drinks such as vodka that is mixed with sugary based liquids is another reason why you might be having a difficult time losing weight.

Not only does alcohol put a strain on your body, but it can also impact your work. Alcohol is considered a depressant and can result in negatively affecting your performance levels. Those who become too dependent on alcohol eventually run the risk of losing their jobs due to a lack of concern about other priorities because alcohol becomes their main concern.

When considering performance, it is important to remember what alcohol does to the brain. Overconsuming alcohol can slow the thinking process which can delay your reaction and even keep you from thinking clearly.

Considering that alcohol can keep someone from thinking clearly, it is important to also consider their safety. Delayed reaction times and impaired thinking can be the difference of someone’s life.

Take for instance someone who gets behind the wheel after consuming alcohol. Not only are they in grave danger of the potential of a fatal car crash, they’re also putting the lives of others at risk as well.

Someone who’s job might require a great deal of hands-on activity could become seriously injured due to the impact alcohol has taken on their body after a night of excessive drinking.
